Embutido is a Filipino style meatloaf which is formed into a log, wrapped in a tin foil and steamed. It is usually serve on special occasions like Christmas and fiestas. It is easy to make and its ingredients are readily available in stores too, this is a must –try Filipino meal. Similar to Hopia this looks intimidating to make, but once you try it, this will become one of your meal rotations.

HOW TO MAKE EMBUTIDO PLUS HOW TO VIDEO

Ingredients

  • 2.5 Lean Ground beef
  • 2 boxes 2 oz raisin
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 bell pepper chopped ( 1/2 green bell pepper and 1/2 red bell pepper)
  • 1/2 tablespoon pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon salt
  • 1/2 cup relish
  • 1 cup thawed peas and carrot
  • 4 pieces Chinese sausage finely chopped (optional)
  • EXTRA FILLING
  • 2-3 cans Vienna Sausage
  • boiled eggs

Instructions

  • Mix all of the ingredients - EXCEPT THE EXTRA FILLING-  in a small bowl and flatten mixture on a foil and roll into a log. PLEASE SEE VIDEO FOR THE PROCESS.
  • Steam for 45 minutes or an hour and serve hot.

Notes

NOTE: For me, the amount of pepper and salt was just good enough. You can season it according to your liking. Just test a small amount of the mixture by frying and see if it tastes OK for you.
