Instant Pot Wonton Soup Recipe with Frozen Wontons
Buying Wontons can get expensive, so I make my own. What I love about homemade wontons is that you can customize them according to your liking and season them accordingly. I have made several variations on dumpling flavor on the blog and cooked them in the Instant Pot, too. After making a wonton soup stove top, I am making it again using my beloved Instant Pot. This recipe is straightforward, and this Wonton soup is perfect for cold days if you are caught under the weather and not feeling well; this soup has ginger to make you feel better.
Ingredients
- Frozen wontons (chicken, pork, or vegetable)
- Water
- Green onions, thinly sliced
- Chopped ginger (optional)
- Baby spinach or bok choy, chopped (optional)
- Salt, Powdered Bouillon, Ground Pepper, Garlic, and Onion Powder to taste
How do you Make it?
- Place the inner pot in the Instant Pot Base.
- You can use store-bought broth or homemade broth for added flavor. In my case, I use water.
- Add Flavorings: Stir in the spice and grated ginger (if using). These ingredients will infuse the broth with savory and aromatic flavors. Add more seasoning if you want.
- Add the frozen wontons. Cover the inner pot with the pressure cooker lid. Set the pressure to HI and set the timer to two minutes. Quick release when done.
- Add Greens (Optional): If you’d like to add some greens to your soup, such as baby spinach or chopped bok choy, this is the time to do so. Stir in the greens and let them wilt in the hot broth for a minute or two.
- Season to Taste: Taste the soup and add more seasoning.
- Serve: Ladle the hot wonton soup into bowls, evenly distributing the wontons and greens for added freshness and color.
- Enjoy: Serve the wonton soup immediately while it’s still hot. You can enjoy it as is or with additional condiments such as chili oil or sriracha for extra heat.
