Super easy Air Fryer Lumpia recipe you can follow that yields a crispy and tasty Lumpia. No oil splatter, just a clean and pristine kitchen.
Beef Lumpia will be the first Filipino food I cook in the air fryer. And it has been three months since my husband gifted this air fryer to me. I had a hard time using it because, first: I am not a techy person. Cooking in the air fryer feels so scary, and what if it will blow up just like those gory stories I read.
My husband has been using it several times, and he can’t stop raving about it, so finally, I gave in, and it’s life-changing. I can’t wait to use it.
WHAT AIR FRYER AM I USING?
- I got the Instant pot with 11 functions. It has an air fryer, slow cooker, roast, and pressure function in it. I am looking forward to using the other parts, but today let’s make Beef Lumpia.
Ingredients:
- Ground Beef – you can replace this with ground chicken, ground pork, or ground turkey.
- Onion, Carrots, Zucchini, Carrot, and Cabbage- skip the chayote
- Fish sauce and soy sauce- you can only use soy sauce, but I like the taste when the fish and soy sauce are combined.
What Brand of Wrapper:
- I like to use Menlo. It’s sold in the Asian store in the frozen section.
How to Make Beef Lumpia in the Air Fryer
- Prepare the Lumpia Filling: Add the ground chicken in a large skillet until it changes color. Remove the meat and set it aside. Using the same skillet, saute the onion until transparent. Add in the chayote and zucchini and cook until wilted add cabbage and the carrots. Add the soy sauce and fish sauce. Add more if needed. Lastly, add the cooked ground chicken and let cool. When ready to wrap, drain excess fluid.
- Prepare the Lumpia for cooking: Brush all sides of the uncooked Lumpia with oil. Place in the air fryer basket and put the Lumpia in the broiling tray. Cover with air fryer lid. Turn on the air fryer, and the setting is 400 F for 20 minutes. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.
HOW TO WRAP LUMPIA
- Place the wrapper on a flat surface.
- Place the filling at the end edge and roll one end.
- Fold both sides of the wrapper and roll.
- Seal with water.
HOW TO STORE:
- Prepare the Lumpia for freezing: Line it in a flat baking pan and place it in the freezer. Transfer them in a Ziploc or container and store them in the freezer for six months when they are frozen.
TIPS:
- Drain excess fluid before wrapping so the liquid does not soak through the wrapper. You can do this by using a fine-mesh strainer.
- Serve immediately and try to make enough for consumption. Leftovers tend to become rigid and stiff.
- Frozen: If you want to cook a frozen Lumpia, there is no need to thaw them. You can deep fry it or cook it in the air fryer when it’s frozen.
