What is Bhuna?
Bhuna is a famous Indian curry that originated in the Punjab region of India. The term ‘bhuna’ means ‘to fry’ or ‘to roast’ in Hindi, reflecting this curry’s cooking process. Bhuna is made by cooking meat, poultry, or seafood in spices and herbs until the sauce becomes thick and the flavors fully nurture. The cooking process involves frying the ingredients in oil or ghee, which gives Bhuna its signature intense flavor.
Is Bhuna Curry Hot?
Bhuna curry can be made mild, medium, or hot, depending on the cook’s preference. The heat level of the curry depends on the type and amount of chili used in the recipe. Typically, Bhuna is considered a medium-spicy curry, which means it has a moderate level of heat that is balanced with the rich and complex flavor of the sauce.
What Type of Curry is Bhuna?
Bhuna is a dry curry, which means that it has a thick sauce that coats the meat or seafood. Unlike other Indian curries, Bhuna has very little gravy, which gives it a distinct texture and consistency. The cooking process of Bhuna involves curtailing the sauce until it becomes thick and the flavors have fully developed.
