Since I have my Instant Pot, I have used it several times a week and neglected some of my kitchen types of equipment. Instant pot really is a very convenient appliance with different functions on it, so I am a big fan.
How do you Cook Basmati Rice in the Instant Pot?
- Rinse the Basmati Rice-to be honest, I don’t rinse my rice. But if you prefer to rinse it, rinse it until the water is clear, and make sure that you drain the water completely using a strainer.
- Cook Basmati rice in the Instant Pot-After rinsing the Basmati rice, place it in the inner pot and set it to the base. Cover it with the pressure cooker lid and push the pressure cooker button setting. Set the pressure to HI and set the timer to seven minutes.
Basmati Rice and Water Ratio
- As a rule, for every cup of Basmati rice, it is 1 1/4 cups of water.
How do you Store Basmati Rice?
Basmati rice can be frozen. You can put it in a sealed container and freeze it. When you are ready to use it, you can set it on the container to thaw and reheat it covered with damp paper and microwave for one minute.
You can also use a Ziploc . Place it in the freezer in a flat layer and freeze it.
What’s the Difference between Jasmine Rice and Basmati Rice?
The difference between Jasmine Rice and Basmati Rice is mostly in their texture after cooking and their grain.
- Jasmine rice often has a shorter grain compared to Basmati rice. When cooked, Jasmine rice is more starchy and soggy in texture.
- Basmati rice is more separate when cooked, therefore, it is ideal to use Basmati rice for Cilantro rice recipes and fried rice.
How do you cook Rice in the Rice cooker?
You can cook rice in the rice cooker. Use the same water-rice ratio, which is: one cup of rice is 1 1/4 cups of water.

Quick Cilantro Rice
- Quick release the IP and open the lid
- A juice of one lime and one bunch of cilantro.
- Fluff the using a wooden fork,anything non metal.
- Season with salt.
