Air Fryer Pizza
The air fryer has become my favorite tool in the kitchen, especially in this summer heat; I can’t blast my oven and use it instead. I have made my cooked chuck roast in it and my favorite frozen shrimp. It has changed how I cook my favorite dishes; pizza is no exception.
In this blog post, we’ll explore some tips for making mouthwatering pizza in the air fryer, highlight its benefits, and provide insights into proper storage techniques.
Ingredients
- Meat– I used leftover chicken from Costco in this post, or you can cook a whole chicken using my Whole Chicken Recipe. I also made this using my Air Fryer Frozen Shrimp recipe seasoned with my Homemade Seafood seasoning.
- Toppings– you can add avocado, pineapple, basil, cilantro, pepperoni.
- Sauce– I used store-bought Alfredo on this. You can use the traditional pizza sauce.

Tips for Success
- Use parchment paper or a pizza stone: Placing your pizza on parchment paper or a pizza stone helps prevent sticking and promotes even browning. It also adds a delightful crispness to the bottom of the crust.
- Opt to make it simple: in this post, I have some leftover ingredients like flatbread, mozzarella cheese, cilantro, and store-bought Alfredo sauce, so I use those. You can also make your pizza dough using my No Yeast Pizza Dough. You can top it with pineapple or any of your favorite meat, similar to what I did in my Flat Bread pizza.
- Precook your toppings: To avoid undercooked toppings, consider precooking any raw ingredients like vegetables or meats before adding them to your pizza. This will ensure that everything is perfectly cooked when your crust is golden and crispy.
- Monitor cooking time and temperature: Air fryers vary in temperature and cooking times, so keeping a close eye on your pizza is essential. Experiment with different settings and adjust accordingly to achieve your desired level of crispiness.
Benefits
- Healthier alternative: Air frying pizza significantly reduces the oil needed compared to traditional frying or baking methods. This results in a lighter and healthier version of your favorite comfort food.
- Faster cooking time: Air fryers excel at cooking foods quickly due to their rapid air circulation. Pizza in an air fryer typically cooks in less time than a conventional oven, making it an excellent option for busy individuals or those craving a quick meal.
- Crispy crust and melty toppings: The intense heat and circulating air in the air fryer create a crisp, golden crust while simultaneously melting the cheese and other toppings to perfection. This combination of textures makes air fryer pizza a delightful treat.
Proper Storage Techniques:
- Refrigeration: If you have leftovers, wrap the pizza with plastic wrap. Refrigerate the pizza promptly to maintain its freshness. Reheat individual slices in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore their crispiness.
- Freezing: For longer storage, freezing leftovers is an option. Wrap each slice with plastic wrap and freeze. Reheat it frozen in the air fryer, or thaw it overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.
Can you cook pizzas in an air fryer?
- Yes, you can cook pizzas in an air fryer. Air fryers are versatile kitchen appliances that cook various foods, including pizzas.
What is the temperature, and how long can I cook pizza in the Air fryer?
- It depends on your size, thickness, and specific air fryer model. Generally, for a fresh, homemade pizza, you can cook it in the air fryer at around 375°F (190°C) for about 8 to 12 minutes. However, it’s important to monitor the pizza while it’s cooking and adjust the cooking time as needed to achieve your desired level of crispness.
- You may need to adjust the cooking time and temperature slightly when cooking. Preheat the air fryer to around 400°F (200°C) and cook the frozen pizza for 12 to 15 minutes. Again, watch the pizza during the cooking process and adjust the time as necessary.
Why is my pizza, not crispy?
- Moisture content: Excess moisture on the pizza can make it less crispy. Ensure to blot any excess oil or water from the pizza before placing it in the air fryer.
- Cooking time and temperature: Following the recommended cooking time and temperature guidelines for your specific air fryer model is important. Cooking the pizza for too long or at a low temperature may produce a softer crust.
- Pizza type and thickness: Thin-crust pizzas generally crisp up better in the air fryer than thicker or deep-dish pizzas. Thicker pizzas may require longer cooking times to achieve a crispy crust.
- Air fryer performance: Different air fryer models may have variations in cooking performance. If you consistently experience issues with crispiness, you might need to experiment with different cooking times and temperature settings or consider upgrading to a more powerful air fryer.
