- Cheap– I always look for affordable meals and thought this Baby Back Ribs recipe fits the bill! It was sold for eleven dollars, two dollars less than the previous days, so I snagged two. I did not have to spend for the rub and the baste since I made them myself. I also ensured the one slab would have some leftovers for my husband’s lunch.
- Easy– This recipe is easy to make, and the ingredients are ready to come by. You can buy the Gochugaru and use it for several recipes or create your own Gochugaru from scratch.
- Party Staple– This recipe is perfect for a weekend barbecue, game day, or any occasion when you crave the mouthwatering taste of perfectly cooked ribs. So, give it a try.
- Perfect for Meal Prep– There were three of us in our household, so I divided the cooked ribs among the three of us for dinner, and I separated some for my husband’s lunch.
- Juicy and tender Tender: Instant Pot always yields juicy and tender meat each time. I made the Charsiu and the Pork Belly in my Instant Pot, which were juicy.
- Unmatched Flavor-The pressure cooking process tenderizes the meat while locking in the spices, creating spicy flavors from t the rub.
- Time-Efficiency-Instant Pot baby back ribs allow you to enjoy a gourmet meal without the lengthy wait. Perfect for weeknight dinners or weekend feasts.
- Fall-Off-The-Bone Texture–One of the most significant advantages of using the Instant Pot is its incredible tenderness to the ribs. They practically fall off the bone, creating a truly satisfying dining experience.

How to Store Instant Pot Baby Back Ribs
Refrigeration
If you find yourself with leftover ribs, proper storage is crucial to maintain their quality. Here’s how to store Instant Pot baby back ribs:
- Cool Down- Allow the cooked ribs to cool to room temperature. Do not leave them out for more than two hours.
- Wrap Securely- Wrap the ribs
- Use an Airtight Container-Place the wrapped
- Refrigerate- Store the container in the refrigerator for three to four days.
Freezing
- Cool Down- Follow the same cooling process as for refrigeration.
- Wrap and Seal- Double-wrap the ribs in aluminum foil to prevent freezer burn.
- Label and Date-Label the package with the date to ensure you use it within three to six months.
- Freeze- Place the wrapped ribs in the freezer, ensuring they are stored flat.
Tips and Tricks for Perfect Instant Pot Baby Back Ribs
- Pre-season for Depth– Rub your ribs with your favorite seasonings for a more profound taste before cooking.
- Quick Release vs. Natural Release-Experiment with quick-release and natural-release methods to find your preferred level of tenderness. Immediate release gives you a firmer texture, while natural release yields fall-off-the-bone results.
- Finish on the Grill-For that coveted smoky finish, throw your Instant Pot-cooked ribs on the grill for a few minutes. This step enhances the flavor and adds those lovely grill marks.
- Sauce Up at the End– After cooking, remember to slather on your favorite barbecue sauce or glaze. Pop the ribs under the broiler for a few minutes to caramelize the sauce, creating a sticky, flavorful glaze.
Baby Back Ribs in Instant pot Rub Variations
- You can customize the taste of the ribs after you soften them in the Instant Pot. There are so many possibilities for seasoning and sauce variations. You can customize your ribs to suit your taste, whether you prefer sweet, smoky, spicy, tangy, or something in between.
- In my case, I have tried making it by rubbing the ribs with my Homemade Asada Seasoning and even my Homemade Fish seasoning. You can use Filipino-style barbecue sauce, too. If you want more kick on the ribs, use my Homemade Gohujang Sauce.
What’s the difference between Baby Back Ribs and Spare Ribs
Baby Back Ribs:
- Cut: Baby back ribs are cut from the top of the ribcage, near the pig’s backbone. They are shorter and curved, with a slight arch.
- Size: Baby back ribs are typically smaller and leaner than regular ribs, making them famous for their tenderness and meat-to-bone ratio.
- Flavor: They are known for their more subtle and mild flavor than regular ribs.
- Texture: Baby back ribs are tender and have less fat marbling than other rib cuts.
Regular Ribs (Spare Ribs):
- Cut: Regular ribs, also known as spare ribs, come from the lower portion of the ribcage, closer to the belly of the pig. They are longer, flatter, and have a higher fat content.
- Size: Spare ribs are more prominent and meatier than baby back ribs but may require longer cooking times to become tender.
- Flavor: Due to their higher fat content, spare ribs often have a richer, more intense flavor than baby back ribs.
- Texture: Spare ribs can be slightly less tender than baby back ribs but can be made tender through proper cooking techniques.
