Laksa Ramen. The Perfect Fusion, A Burst of Flavor in Every Bite.
In culinary adventures, few combinations are as enticing and delectable as the marriage of two beloved dishes from different cultures. One such irresistible fusion is the glorious creation known as Laksa Ramen. This delightful blend of Southeast Asian and Japanese flavors combines the creamy richness of Laksa with the comforting and satisfying noodles of ramen. But we will do it as simply and quickly as possible this time.
What is Laksa Ramen Hack
- Laksa is a spicy Southeast Asian coconut milk and broth-based noodle soup. You’ll find it in various forms in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. In Indonesia, most laksa variants are coconut milk-based soups. Common spices include turmeric, coriander, candlenut, lemongrass, garlic, shallot, and pepper cooked in coconut milk.
- In this post, I am sharing Ramen infused with coconut milk and red curry paste, but Hacked! I mean not at all authentic. Of course, you make Red Curry meal from scratch, like this Chicken Curry with Red Curry paste Sauce and Instant Pot Beef Curry, but for now, let’s take the beating of our Asian friends and make this very non original dish and please those people on a budget-like me.
Why you’ll love this Laksa Ramen Hack.
- Cheap– I have posted several recipes that are cheap and delicious at the same time. An example of those cheap recipes is this Instant Pot Vietnamese Lemongrass Chicken Thigh and Chicken Lollipop Drumsticks.
- Enhanced flavor: Instant ramen can sometimes lack the depth of flavor, but by adding ingredients like fresh herbs, spices, sauces, or seasonings, you can elevate the taste and make it more enjoyable.
- Customization: Ramen hacks allow you to personalize your meal according to your preferences. You can add vegetables, protein (such as cooked chicken, beef, tofu, or shrimp), eggs, or even additional toppings like green onions, mushrooms, or seaweed.
- Texture variation: Some people enjoy modifying the texture of instant ramen by adding crunchy elements like toasted sesame seeds, crushed peanuts, or fried garlic. These additions can add a satisfying contrast to the soft noodles.
Ingredients
- Water– you can use broth.
- Instant Ramen Pack– I used chicken flavor, but you can use beef. Discard, or save the ramen spice packet, since we are not using it in this recipe.
- Curry Paste– you can buy this in your supermarket in the Asian section.
- Chili Powder– add more or less- according to how spicy you want, the broth will turn out. In this post, I skipped this ingredient.
- Coconut Milk– adds flavor, and of course, it is always a big part of any Laksa meal.
- Ginger– add more if you want. In this recipe, I add an inch of ginger.
- Garlic– two cloves of garlic.
What is a substitute for laksa paste?
- What can you substitute for Laksa paste? If you can’t find laksa paste at your local grocery store or local Asian market, don’t worry! You can use Thai red or yellow curry paste instead in this recipe. Thai curry pastes have very similar ingredients and a very similar flavor profile to laksa paste.
How do you Make it?
- Curry Paste Mixture– Place the sugar, red curry paste, garlic, and ginger in a small bowl.
- Add in the coconut milk and mix. Set aside for later.
- Boil a cup of water in the small-sized pot and add the ramen.
- Cook the ramen as per instructions. But cook the ramen halfway.
- Halfway through the cooking, add the coconut milk.
- Eat immediately– remove the Ramen from the heat once it is cooked and transfer it to a bowl directly. You don’t want to overcook the Ramen Noodles. Consume immediately.
TIPS
- Immediately remove the noodles and transfer them to the bowl.
- Eat immediately. Don’t allow the noodles to sit in the brothCombining. Doing this cooks the noodles more, making them mushy.
- Add your favorite garnish– make this meal yours by adding your favorite toppings.
- Roasted sesame oil- you must use toasted sesame oil in this recipe. This adds so much flavor to the broth.
Laksa Ramen represents the epitome of culinary creativity and cultural fusion. By combining the best elements of Southeast Asian and Japanese cuisine, this particular dish tantalizes taste buds, transports diners to new culinary heights, and creates an unforgettable dining experience.
