Pesto, Basil and Mozzarella Cheese in one flat bread, what can be better than this? This pizza is a blend of good taste and a wonderful aroma from the basil leaves and topped with the gooey mozzarella cheese too. Yum!

I love the smell of basil and of course, its taste. Aside from these, basil is also very healthy. It can clear up your skin and it is good for busting stress (please read the Basil benefits here) and it can relieve anxiety. It is also a good source of iron.
I love basil too much, that I bought a basil plant and tried to grow it in my home. Of course, it has long been gone. I am not of a green thumb, so it died its “unnatural death;” so I just buy basil in the store. Basil are not too cheap in regular store though, so I buy my basil in the Asian market for $ 0.99 for a whole zip loc size bag. How cool is that?
Today, I am sharing with you a pizza recipe wherein basil is again, making its appearance. Not just a garnish or a sneaky veggie role, but as a lead ingredient. And again, basil does not disappoint. It is kicking it! It is shrieking like a banshee, and yelling a loud hurrah… this pizza is delicious.
When you talk about pizza, it is mainly categorized as junk meal. But when you make your own, a slice can be filled with calcium, high fiber and less fat. If you look at the nutritional value below, one pizza is only 86 calories. So I listed this recipe as one of my healthy food menu. I got the flat bread from the groceries but next time, I am going to try making my own healthy pizza crust – that, if I can muster a courage to do it.
Without further ado, here is the Pesto, Basil and Mozzarella Pizza .This is a continuation of the Tomato, Mozzarella Pizza I posted two days ago. This is my daughter’s favorite flavor. I hope you will like it too.
Pesto, Basil and Mozzarella Pizza
- 2 tablespoon green pesto I used the Classico brand
- shredded mozzarella cheese
- Basil leaves
- 1 flat bread Kangaroo Brand in Wheat
- Pre heat oven at 400 F
- Place the flat bread on a baking sheet.
- Spread the pesto and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Top it with the basil leaves.
- Bake pizza until the cheese are melted.
