Spicy Chicken Karaage Bowl ( Air fryer)
Chicken Karaage is a famous Japanese meal with the chicken coated with delicious breading. You can deep fry it but, in this case, it was air fried in my Instant Pot Duo Crisp for twenty minutes. The breading came out crunchy. I also made my own Spice Karaage sauce to up the taste; although you can always. Skip this part.
Equipment:
Note that I use my Instant Pot Duo Crips appliance. Each Instant Model functions differently, so check your manual.
How Do you Make Chicken Karaage
Step one: Marinate the chicken- slice the chicken into bite-size pieces and place it into a large bowl. Add in the marinade ingredients and cover the bowl with plastic and marinate in the fridge overnight.
Step two: Prepare the Breading- place the cornstarch in a medium-size bowl and add two tablespoons of water. Mix using a fork. Add on a small amount of water. The goal here is to achieve a crumbly breading, so add water slowly. We don’t need wet breading.
Step three: Cook the chicken. Add in the all-purpose flour and the egg. Mix the chicken using your hand and make sure there are no flour crumbles.
Step four: Air Fry or Deep fry. Roll the prepared chicken in the cornstarch mixture. Spray the air fryer tray with nonstick oil and spray the chicken with oil. Cover using the air fryer lid and push the air fryer setting. Push the temperature on HI and set the timer to twenty-one minutes.
