This post may feel weird to you, but Chicken paw is a famous appetizer in the Philippines, even across Asia. In the Philippines, this is perfect for “pulutan” or paired with beer and is served during a drinking session. I am not a beer drinker, so when I found this in the Asian store, I made it for dinner to eat with rice.

How does Chicken Paw taste?
Chicken paws or chicken feet don’t have lean meat in them. Once it’s cooked, the texture is gelatinous and smooth; the sauce carries how tasty the flavor can become. So we are using my sauce recipe to up the taste of this meal.
Equipment
I want to emphasize each instant pot is different, and some settings may not be on the instant pot you got. In my case, I am using Instant Pot Duo Crisp 11-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker with Air Fryer Lid, 8 Quart. This Instant pot doesn’t have the rice setting, so I am using the pressure cooker setting.
Instant Pot Best Chicken Paw Recipe Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons Hoisin Sauce
- 3 tablespoons Oyster sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon Chili flakes
- 1 teaspoon ground pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
Step one: Place all of the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix until incorporated. Season according to your liking.
Wash chicken feet thoroughly and cut off the nail. Place chicken feet in the Instant Pot inner pot.
Step two: Place the inner pot in the base and add in the sauce. Mix using a wooden or plastic spoon.
Step three: Cover the pot with a pressure cooker lid. Push the pressure cooker button setting and set the temperature to HI. Set time at 10 to 15 minutes.
Step five: When done, release the pressure and serve the chicken feet

My colleagues don’t eat chicken paws and find it appalling; some use them to feed the dog, but we eat them and serve them during meals in Asia.

How do you cook and eat chicken paws?
There are several ways to cook chicken paws. You can boil it, add seasoning, and cook it stovetop. You can also marinate it with soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and onion, string it in the skewer, and barbecue it. Instead of doing these processes, I am cooking chicken feet in the Instant pot, making them so fast – it only took me ten minutes of pressure cooking.
Once cooked, Chicken feet are very slippery, so the best way to eat them is by hand.
How long does it take to cook chicken paws?
When you cook and boil chicken feet on the stovetop, it will take one hour or more to soften them, but in the instant pot- ten minutes!
How do you store:
Once the chicken feet are cooked and if in case you have leftovers, place them in the container and put them in the fridge. You can also freeze them. You can reheat them in the microwave oven for two minutes.

- 1 1/2 lbs Chicken Paws/Feet
Sauce Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons Hoisin Sauce
- 3 tablespoons Oyster sauce

- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 cup water
